The Art of the Refresh: When Colour, Texture and Art Change a Home

The Art of the Refresh: When Colour, Texture and Art Change a Home

A family home transformed through thoughtful layers of colour, texture, art and styling.

Type: The Identity Affair (Interior Makeover) | Location: Mumbai | Size: 2BHK

Scope of the Project

A refresh of the living and dining areas, the mother’s bedroom and the brother’s bedroom. Rather than completely redoing the home, we brought in new furniture, fabrics, artwork, wallpapers and styling to add the colour, texture and personality the spaces were missing.

The Client Brief

The existing home felt neutral and lacked the colour, texture and personality our client wanted. The brief was to refresh the key spaces without completely redoing everything, using new layers and thoughtful details to make the home feel warmer and more expressive.

The living room became the starting point. A nude pink sofa set the tone, paired with fun artwork and bone inlay pieces that brought in character. A neutral ikat wallpaper wrapped the dining and TV walls, adding pattern while keeping the space feeling calm.

Description Notes

Each bedroom received its own smaller refresh through accent wallpapers, new furniture and layers of textiles. Bone inlay pieces brought character to the mother’s bedroom, while textile art, cushions, bedding and smaller styling details helped add warmth and softness throughout.

The transformation was really about layering. Colour, print, texture, art and objects were introduced gradually, allowing the existing home to evolve rather than replacing everything that was already there.

What had once felt fairly neutral became warmer, more considered and full of personality. Every new layer added something to the home, creating spaces that felt richer without feeling overdone.

It was a refresh in the truest sense: not a complete reinvention, but a home transformed through colour, texture, art and the details that make a space feel personal.
