How two compact Goa apartments were transformed into distinct yet complementary retreats designed for gathering, slowing down, and feeling at home.
Type: The Soul Affair (Holiday Home Design) | Location: Goa | Size: Twin Apartments
Scope of the Project
Designed as guest homes for friends and family, these twin Goa apartments were reimagined to feel welcoming, relaxed, and full of personality. Through architectural modifications, playful materials, custom details, and two distinct design identities, the homes offer different experiences while sharing a common spirit of comfort and ease.
The Client Brief
The vision was to create two holiday apartments that felt equally inviting yet entirely unique. Both homes needed to function comfortably for short stays while offering the warmth and character of a lived-in home. The design approach focused on creating spaces that felt relaxed, playful, and memorable, allowing guests to experience a distinct atmosphere within each apartment while maintaining a shared connection between the two.
Description Notes
Both apartments began with similar layouts, which were opened up by merging one room and introducing larger arched entrances that double as lounge spaces. These interventions immediately created a greater sense of openness and flow while softening the architecture. In Apartment One, the mood is warm, earthy, and quietly playful. Textured jute wallpaper, terracotta limewash, a rich terracotta sofa, and layered natural materials create a grounded atmosphere inspired by slow mornings and long conversations. Playful bathroom tiles, curated prints, and compact kitchenettes with breakfast counters complete the experience.
Apartment Two takes on a cooler, more tropical identity. A shiplap wall introduces texture, while an olive-green sofa and a dog-lover's lounge wrapped in calming blue limewash create a fresh and inviting environment. Tropical wallpapers, vibrant prints, and playful tile selections bring energy into the home while still maintaining a sense of ease. The terracotta kitchen and breakfast nook add warmth and balance, creating spaces that feel connected to Goa's lush landscape without becoming overly literal.
Together, the apartments offer two interpretations of the same idea: a home away from home. One leans earthy and cocooning, the other bright and tropical, yet both are rooted in comfort, functionality, and personality. Designed for guests but layered with enough detail to feel personal, they capture the spirit of a holiday while still feeling thoughtfully lived in.
